In August and September, volunteers have been creating creative cards with hopeful, bright messages in Spanish and English. This activity is in collaboration with the Interact Club of Puerto Rico and students of la Escuela Cedín. With their extensive help, we have amassed over 300 cards, which will be donated to the Hospital San Jorge in an upcoming visit. Thank you to all the artistic volunteers who created these beautiful cards for the patients of San Jorge!
Fundación Hospital Pediátrico Brownie Fundraiser
In August and September, we hosted a fundraiser in the cities of Vega Baja and Toa Alta. This activity was a success since we sold 20+ brownies. So far, we have earned 1,000 dollars for the Hospital Fundación Pediátrico. Thank you to Shennen for helping out with the baking and selling!
Hospital del Niño 2nd Book Drive
In early October, The CKF Puerto Rico Chapter donated 400 more books in collaboration with the TASIS Dorado Interact Club. In total, the chapter has donated over 800 children’s books for ages 3-17 to the patients of el Hospital del Niño. Great thanks to Adriana Gotay of HDN public relations who helped us organize this activity and to everyone involved who donated books!
Fundación de Niños Toy Drive
At the end of June, the Cancer Kids First Puerto Rico Chapter donated over 200 children’s toys to the Fundación de Niños in San Juan. The donation consisted of diverse types of plushies, legos, kitchen playsets, figurines, dolls, etc. Thank you to all the families, friends, neighbors, and peers who contributed to the donation. Special thanks to Mr. Juan Soto, Director of CMN Hospital, for the wonderful message of support for Cancer Kids First Puerto Rico. Our chapter will keep collaborating with them for future projects and aim to support pediatric cancer patients all over Puerto Rico!
We will return with another donation around July or August.
Fundraiser at PVAPR marathon
On June 25, the Paralyzed Veterans of America Puerto Rico Chapter hosted a marathon in Toa Baja to raise funds for their organization. The event organizers allowed local businesses to sell their items and products during the marathon. Cancer Kids First Puerto Rico Chapter was given this tremendous opportunity to sell homemade brownies, cookies, and vitamin C juice for the Fundación Hospital Pediátrico. Thank you to the director of PVAPR, Diana Sambolín, for the incredible message and to everyone in the marathon for supporting the Cancer Kids First Puerto Rico Chapter!
Summer Brownie Fundraiser for Fundación Hospital Pediátrico
Starting in May, Cancer Kids First Puerto Rico has organized a summer fundraiser to help Fundación Hospital Pediátrico provide equipment and services for pediatric patients. The fundraiser consisted of selling homemade brownies, cookies, and vitamin juice, as well as handmade Father’s Day and Birthday cards. The items were mainly sold in neighborhoods in Dorado, San Juan, and Toa Alta with the help of volunteers. The volunteers would be given service hours in exchange for fundraising duties, networking, and promotional efforts.

Hospital del Niño Book Drive
On June 9, the CKF Puerto Rico chapter donated over 400 children’s books, magazines, comics, and novels to the Hospital del Niño in San Juan. The founder, Nari Shin, set up a book drive in her neighborhood and reached out to her friends for donations. The volunteers were twelve-year-old Isabella Shin and rising senior Shennen Torres, who donated a large sum of books and helped move them to San Juan. Another donation will be done in July or August.
